Functions of the Clerk’s office

  1. Administrative support for Mayor and Town Council.
  2. Record and transcribe Town Council meeting minutes.
  3. Prepare (and publicly post) Town Council meeting agendas.
  4. Prepare pre-meeting information packets, and distribute them to the Council.
  5. Process Ordinances and Resolutions.
  6. Keep the Town Code up-to-date.
  7. Conduct elections.
  8. Manage archival and historic information (records management).
  9. Process requests for copies of official records.

The Town Clerk maintains all documents necessary for the effective administration and operation of municipal government, provides support to the Mayor and Town Council, and aids in the delivery of effective government service. It is the responsibility of the Town Clerk to facilitate municipal elections in accordance with statutory requirements, and to serve internal and external customers in an impartial, confidential, efficient, trustworthy and friendly manner.
