The Town of Pinetop-Lakeside lost a longtime friend and town supporter when Jack Barker died on March 11th, 2017. Mr. Barker served as the town attorney for over 20 years and was very involved and respected in the community.

Upon hearing of his death the community looked for a special way to honor Jack for his long service to Pinetop-Lakeside. It was decided to name the 1.17 acre corner lot the town owns at the corner of Johnson Drive and Hwy 260 the Jack Barker Memorial Park. Many citizens will recognize this corner as the new location for the Town Christmas Tree.

A committee of friends has been formed to make this project a reality. This will be a special place to honor Jack and all the many things he did for the citizens of Pinetop-Lakeside. Plans for this new park will be suggested depending on funding. At this time we are planning for an amphitheater and stage, memorial garden and pathway (see conceptual drawing below). The plan will become more formalized as we move forward.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Jack Barker Memorial Park. Your donation can be sent to the Town of Pinetop-Lakeside, 958 S. Woodland Road, Lakeside, AZ 85929, noted Jack Barker.

If you have questions about this upcoming project, please email mwilliams@pinetoplakesideaz.gov.
